Establishment: In February 2011, musician Richie Moore founded the organization and filed for incorporation in August 2011. In March 2012, the organization was granted 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
Grant program for high schools: Musicians on a Mission, California, the Ventura County Arts Council, and The Collection at Riverpark collaborated to implement a grant program that benefits music programs in public and private high schools throughout Ventura County. Funds were provided by The Collection Riverpark. The following high schools were provided with much-needed support for their music programs:
- Adolfo Camarillo High School, Camarillo
- Besant Hill School, Ojai
- Rio Mesa High School, Oxnard
- Royal High School, Simi Valley
- Saint Bonaventure High School, Ventura
- Nordhoff High School, Ojai

Mid-2010s to present (2015–2025)
Musical collaborations and community events: MOAMCA partnered with local groups and venues to host and perform at community events.
- Regular performances: The organization’s musicians have performed regularly at locations such as Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Assisted Living Facility, as well as at Hospice facilities and for special populations.
Ongoing programs:

- Instrument “gift-aways”: MOAMCA continues to provide new and repaired used instruments to young people who demonstrate a need and passion for music.
- Mentorship and workshops: Veteran musicians share their skills and provide workshops for young people in classrooms and during community events.
- Community events: MOAMCA participates in and sponsors various community events, including street fairs and benefit concerts.
